For almost twenty years I have been building PHP systems that still hold up after the next major upgrade. As a freelancer for agencies and software vendors, and from 2019 to 2022 as the Extbase merger in the TYPO3 core team.

  tenants on a multi-tenant SaaS platform I was responsible for as lead developer for four years: DDD architecture, a test regime, around a million requests a day, upgrades from TYPO3 8.7 to 13.4.

  merged patches in the TYPO3 core between 2012 and 2025. From 2019 to 2022 responsible for Extbase as component merger.

  pull requests to other people's projects, from PHPStan and Rector via Symfony to dozens of TYPO3 extensions. Plus six packages of my own on Packagist.

How I work

Architecture first.

Bounded contexts, an expressive domain model and a test regime before features get stacked on top. Legacy code is moved in that direction step by step, not rewritten.

LLM-assisted.

I use AI coding agents every day to deliver faster. Thinking, deciding and reviewing stay with me.

Data-minimising.

A data processing agreement is ready when needed. The goal, though, is never to see personal data in the first place: anonymised dumps, synthetic fixtures, no production access where it can be avoided.
